WHEN &
HOW DID IT ALL START?
A
PRODUCT & DESCENDANT OF THE ANCIENT ART OF MASONRY |

Shumock Masonry
was founded in 1980 in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa. At the age
of 26 years old Mark J. Shumock had a better idea than working for some
one else. He set out to start his own masonry company. Unknowingly lacking
a lot of refined masonry skills Mr. Shumock established his reputation via
being hands-on concentrating on expedient - complete service. Now, more
than 26 years later, located in rural Bucks County , Pennsylvania the
hands on expedient service is still the foundation of his masonry
business. Combine that with the refined mastery of the craft and the
dedicated employees (some of which have been with the company for some 20
years). |

 |
Today - 24 years later:
Shumock still practices hands-on masonry, now at
54 he and his masons say they're better than they have ever been, and
getting better every day. By mastering his craft he now feels an
obligation to teach the young masons the right way in hopes they will some
day do the same. If it wasn't for his love of the trade there would be a
few less master artisans than there are today.
The most particular customers employ Shumock
Masonry today. Specializing in conventional masonry fireplaces his
craftsmen employ the old world techniques along with contemporary
technical adaptations and modifications. Accruing a flawless reputation
for building over 1000 fireplaces that function and burn properly.
Aside from fireplaces a strong demand exists
for their meticulous attention to installing custom brick work and stone
work, focusing on the smallest of details. With the accumulated portfolio
of satisfied customers and their high quality reputation Shumock Masonry
chooses to work for the most discriminate clientele. |

Another birth in a garage!
In 1991 Mr. Shumock gave birth to Pyro Place. Using just a pencil, piece
of paper and his expertise he doodled his way to a concept ahead of its
time. Along with some entrusted employees he began his R & D in his
garage. A concept, alone at its conception had no examples in its
technology field to resource. Design development took upwards of 2 years
until the technology received a U.S. Patent in 1993. Continued research
and development resulted in the successful testing for functionality and
fire safety at Underwriters Laboratories in Northbrook, Ill. in 1996.
Henceforth receiving a U.L. Listing, allowing the Pyro Place to bear the
world recognized
. The rest is
history! |

Mr. Shumock says:
"With the Love and Commitment to the trade we will continue the quality
and service for years to come. This will be reflected in our future
efforts in our daily operations, in addition to our new product lines
being developed with in. Pyro Place will become our legacy, a
tribute and testimony of the efforts & commitment we have as artisans.
Passing this legacy on long after the demise of Shumock Masonry the Pyro
Place technology will help ensure that the art of creating masonry fireplaces
will survive for generations of masons and homeowners yet to come". |
