FLAGSTONE

Flagstone is one of the most popular masonry accent materials used, in this locale, it is used for fireplace hearths & mantles, wall caps & steps, countertops, patios & sidewalks.

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION - Brief description of the materials & methods of installation.

- SHAPES & SIZES:

Random Square Pattern - size measuring = nominal rectangular / square (ie: 12'x 12", 18"x 24", 24"x 30", etc.).

                                      - Thickness = (1'-1.5") (1.5"-2") (2"-3") ranges within the selection, which is normally used for sidewalks & patios. (The thicker the material - the longer it lasts!)                                        Certain thicknesses are more conducive to specific types of installations than others, be sure not to "overbuy" or "underbuy" material not needed.

                                      - Qualities = Natural Cleft (top). - The natural top ranging in grade ranging from smooth to not so smooth (but not rough).

                                      - Colors = Natural Cleft can be considered a full range color selection combined of; blues, blue/gray, grays, lilacs.

= Thermal Cleft is a more consistent of blue & blue gray

= Thermal / Sawn Cut. - A Premium Selection described as smooth - smooth, just like a tile. This selection is most conducive to dry lay situations.

                                                                                 - Cut to most specific thicknesses - 1", 1.5", 2", etc. and sawn to almost - absolutely squared stones.

                                        - Installations = "WET LAID" in cement w/cement joints. Always installed with a concrete sub-base (patio, sidewalks) usually using a durable 1.5"-2" material.

= "DRY LAID" on compacted stone & grit/sand w/sand joints (swept). Or with out a joint at all (using thermal / sawn cut selection).

- Irregular / Natural Pattern - All though this is laid in the same manner and applies the same as random square pattern the finish product is a more arbitrary pattern of all unique shapes.

                                          - This selection DOES NOT come as a thermal cleft and would be considered a natural cleft finish in a more mosaic pattern than normal.

- Thermal Stock  - The primary use for this product would be for finishing touches - radiuses, hearths, mantles, steps / treads, wall caps, counter tops & sills.

                         - Sizes = Nominal sizes cut to specific lengths out of standard larger size stock, i.e.; 24' x 72"x 1.5"thick, 18"x 80"x 2"thick, 12"x 72"x 6"thick, etc.

                         - Thickness = A consistent thickness quality for edging usually maintaining accurately 1", 1.5", 2", 2.5", etc. usually having smooth - flamed edges.

                         - Colors = A pretty consistent uniform color of blue, blue/gray, gray.
